'Pen'annular Brooch

This brooch is in practice a penannular (incomplete circle), but combined with an annular (circle) brooch in that there isn't a true opening for the pin, though the dip made by the finials serves that purpose. I also tried a different way to make and attach the pin here, with the decorative scroll.

The circle was forged from 3/8" round mild steel, and the pin was made from 1/8". As with all my pins, the circle is first made completely, then the pin is made and attached. Finished with linseed oil, it's actually all solid black, though it appears not in the picture.
