This is my first attempt at a cubed twist. It's time consuming compared to most other twists. The fork was kind of incidental, I make a lot of utensils and it seemed like a good thing to do after I made the twist.

Forged from 5/8" square mild steel bar. I then cleaned it up on a wire wheel, and finished it with beeswax. 13 1/2" in length.

I love this twist, very decorative, one of those "How did you do that??"

Well, that would be telling, now wouldn't it? :D

Okay, okay. Basically, I chisled a line in each face of the bar, then hacksawed cuts starting at the edge and going down to each incised line, on two sides, left the other two alone, then twisted it. Technically simple, just looks complicated. Unlike a pinapple twist, which looks complicated and is complicated.
:iconivrim:
that looks pretty good....did you make your own angle chisel? and also....are you doing nice curved cuts with the hacksaw?

I used my set chisel to incise the lines. I cut straight down with the hacksaw, but I have been told that using a large diameter but thin cutting disk will cut in further and give the cubes a more complete look.

well, what i'd suggest is continuing to use the hacksaw, but not cutting straight down. just cut a smooth arc, so that the fattest part is convex towards you on the angle of the bar, and the deeper parts of the curve are on the edges of the cuts. if that makes any sense at all. =P
